Between 29-34 weeks is the best time for a session to take place. The last part of the third trimester can be uncomfortable and I want to make sure you feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible.
If you would like to bring your partner along that is wonderful. If you want to include your other children, I suggest we do that part of the shoot first. This way if the child gets tired, your partner and child can leave and we can continue. Kids get bored and you don’t want to be distracted. This way we get some great belly shots of you relaxed, but we are still able to do some great family shots.
2 to 3 outfit changes are recommended. Keep clothing selections simple. Stripes and busy patterns can hide the stomach or detract attention away from it. Instead, stick with solid colors. A bandeau or light tank top with a flowy skirt or jeans that don’t do up anymore work well as an example. In fact, something as simple as a husband's button down shirt works well.
PLEASE contact me as soon as your baby is born if not sooner. We can book an appointment based on your due date...and always change it later if we need to. This way we avoid being overbooked and can get you in my calendar. The BEST time to photograph a newborn is in the first 10 days of life. I prefer 5-9 days old. Babies this age are sleepy and more moldable. I can get the sleeping and peaceful shots a lot easier at this age. After 13 days of age, baby is far more alert and baby acne and colic can set in. If baby is older than 14 days it requires a lot of patience on both our parts. It can take upwards of 2-3 hours for a session.
I offer newborn sessions in my home studio (aka my living room). I have many backgrounds and props available to use but I also encourage my clients to bring their own to add if they like (i.e. hats, blankets, headbands, etc).
The studio will be very warm; babies like to be warm and cozy especially when they are naked. It is best to have baby fed before you come so they are more likely to sleep. Most of the time feeding and changing breaks are necessary, but don’t worry I am very patient and allow for this in my booking times. I will also try to get a few pictures of your new bundle awake.
Creative Portrait Session
Creative Portrait Sessions include everything from baby, couples, engagement, family or anything else that is not maternity or newborn. Sessions are very comfortable and laid back with no rush and plenty of time to capture the best images possible. They typically last between 1 and 2 hours, so please plan your day accordingly. There are endless opportunities at the beach or park, throwing rocks in the water, picking flowers or simply sitting on some playground equipment or driftwood at the beach. My goal is to give you images that are real and filled with emotion.
Investing in a boudoir session for yourself or as a gift to someone special is a fabulous idea! They make great anniversary, birthday, valentines day or christmas presents for your someone special. It's a great experience of pampering yourself and get photos taken that capture your beauty both inside and out. I offer a fun, relaxing and comfortable experience. Getting hair and make-up professionally done is highly recommended prior to shoot...it really does make a big difference in the overall appearance of the photos. I do have contacts for make-up artistry if interested.
